Christmas time has always been a favorite time of the year of many Christians all over the world. It is sad to see this very important holiday end.
There’s something particular about this season. Even those who are not Catholic seem to find strength or peace which permeates around the surroundings during this season.
The churches observe Advent, together with people all over the world each year during this holiday season. Advent is a time of spiritual preparation wherein lots of Christians anywhere else prepare for the birth or coming of the Lord. Celebrating or commemorating Advent normally involves a time of fasting, prayer as well as repentance, followed by joy, anticipation and hope.
Christians all over the world celebrate Advent not just through thanking Lord Jesus Christ’s first coming to human kind as an infant, but also because of His presence amongst people today in the form of the Holy Spirit and in preparation and hope of His final coming.
After knowing the fundamentals of what the Advent period means to you, isn’t this what people are thought to be doing constantly? It seems that the ideas of Advent encompass the real meaning of Christianity. If which is the case, should not the Christian people be in a lasting state of Advent?
We know that we celebrate the particular date that our Lord was born as 25th of December. However, the festivity of the reason that the Lord was born must be an all year round celebration. The reason the people limit Advent or Christmas into a specific time means that they pack their celebratory attitude and keep it away until the following season. This must not be the case.
The spirit of love, giving and peace and the spirit of joy and the whole thing which goes along with the festivity of our Lord must be kept in our mind and hearts all year round and must not be limited to a specific time of the year.
As people start the New Year, it is important to keep the real meaning of Advent alive and it must stay in your heart and in your family.
Keep the most excellent and finest act of love which the Father Almighty showed toward human kind by the giving His begotten Son in your mind.
You must pray without ceasing all the way through the year. Be fast to ask forgiveness when penitence is necessary.
Be watchful about the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life and count on Him to guide and lead you on a daily basis. And as we live every day serving other people along the way, keep your eyes skyward.
For all Christians all over the world, Christmas time is a time that we should celebrate all year long and a time that we must enjoy all year long. Keep the spirit of Christmas in your heart everyday and not only on Christmas day. It is how celebrating Christmas should be. Keep that in your mind and heart.
